Welcome New Members!

Here are some quick tips to get you started. If you are a Lab Member there are additional policies and considerations that can be found here.

Useful Links

 

Basic Information

  • Wifi Network: Biolabs@NYU Password: 180Varick@6!0219

  • Printer Model: Canon 3835i IP Address: 10.10.0.72

    • Instructions are posted in the bulletin board in the copy room.

    • Be sure you are selecting the correct printer!

  • Site updates are emailed every Monday and Lab updates are emailed every Friday.

    • Make sure Constant Contact is not marked as spam in your inbox.

  • Need more supplies? Join Marketplace to place orders.  Fill out New to Marketplace form to join.

  • If you would like an assigned locker, please send a request to the Site Coordinator.

  • Have your badge at all times with your membership status visible. 

  • All guests must sign in through the Visitor Form or iPad in the 6th floor lobby.

  • Have a problem or need help? Fill out a support ticket or email Support.

  • When working outside of normal business hours, consult the 24-7 Access pageIf you work in the lab, you'll need to have your FDNY C14 Certification and fill out the Work Alone Form.

Things to keep in mind.

  • Do not damage the work space or furniture. Everything needs to be returned to Biolabs in its original condition.

  • All your items need to fit within your designated space.

  • Suggestions for improvement are always welcome! Please share them in the box located in 6th floor cafe or send a support ticket.

  • This is a community so let's work together to make it flourish. 

  • The Biolabs team has to consider its impact on the entire community when making decisions.

  • Everyone in our community has a lot at stake. Humanity is depending on us. 

  • Happy Hours and Resident Mixers are typically on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Check the Events calendar for specific details.

House Rules

​

  1. Be courteous and show respect to members and visitors.

  2. Be considerate when using the open desk area ensuring not to take up more than one desk per person.

  3. All guests must complete the Visitor Form before their visit or upon arrival using the iPad in the 6th floor lobby. 

  4. Members may not take, copy or use any information, intellectual property belonging to BioLabs, Member Companies , their Members or Guests. 

  5. Pets are not allowed. Service animals are allowed and must comply with ADA requirements. Please reach out to Biolabs staff beforehand for accommodations.

  6. Children may only visit outside of normal business hours unless during an authorized family-friendly event.

  7. Please adjust your volume when speaking in open areas. 

  8. Alcohol is not permitted during business hours unless it is part of an approved BioLabs event.

  9. Electronic devices must contain the latest software updates and kept clean of malware, viruses or anything designed to perform malicious operations. BioLabs may remove any device from our networks that pose a threat to our networks or users. 

  10. In compliance with the New York Smoke-Free Air Act, smoking (including e- smoking) is prohibited inside the building. 

  11. We expect that members and guests will not perform any activity that is likely to be disruptive, damaging or dangerous to anyone on site. 

  12. Members are responsible to successfully complete EHS courses before being given access to the lab. 

  13. To host member events on premises, BioLabs requires completed paperwork and reasonable prior notice. 

  14. Alterations and/or installations to the Office Space require BioLabs approval. Members are responsible for the removal of such items, as well as installation and removal costs. Approved alterations, installations, and removals must be coordinated through BioLabs.

  15. Keys and badges provided by BioLabs remain our property, not be copied or shared. Members are responsible for replacement fees if lost or stolen. Locks cannot be installed unless authorized in advance by BioLabs. 

  16. Offices may not be used as retail or medical space involving frequent visitors.

Please note policy amendment is at BioLabs@NYULangone's team discretion. We will notify members of any changes.

*The information provided here is specific to working at BioLabs@NYULangone. You may receive a supplementary set of policies from your direct manager, and those are equally important, however both sets of policies need to be considered while working in our space.
